Can anyone offer the best place to buy a domain name? Godaddy has a low introductory offer but then becomes exponentially more expensive for future years.

1and1 has a nice combo package, so does bluehost and hostgator when you buy a hosting package, they throw a domain in for free.

Google charges just $10 per year.

1&1 often does $1 specials for the first year, but then it goes up to something like $15 or $20 after that.

Like insurance, transferring domains is the way to go until you need a vps or dedi server...
