Encryption Email Service

I have a small agency & would like to start using email encryption service to send secure emails that require a login to obtain attachments that I send, such as applications to insurance companies, etc.

My questions are: Can anyone suggest an email service that is moderately priced, and, will insurance companies accept attachments that require them to setup a User Name & Password?

Any insight is appreciated.

Carriers typically have their own encrypted email service. On the few occasions where I have sent PHI as an attachment by regular email (such as to an underwriter) their email server rejected it. The only way to get the info to them was via their secure email.

Or fax.

Which is less secure than email.

Go figure.

There are services you can use for free, or paid.

Apparently Gmail is encrypted.

I set myself up with MDOfficeMail for secure, HIPAA compliant email and fax services. Very reasonably priced.

I am working on Virtru from Gmail. Personal webinar in 30 min. This system looks awesome, I am not sure what the price is (similar to other systems or less) and it works right through Gmail. :) I will update when I have made my final decision.

Regular (free) Gmail includes encryption automatically but it is not a level that meets HIPAA guidelines.

If you want encrypted email, and need HIPAA standards, make sure the product offers what you need.

Right, of course. Virtru Pro offers a BAA and Hipaa rule pack. Integration with Gmail and a dashboard with access to all emails sent, etc. It looks like a winner to me at this point.
