I work for a call center and didn't realize they spent that amount of money on me.

Although I'm not sure I see the need to be licensed in more than one state if your not working for a call center.

Exceptions abound of course (live close to a border, small state, DC area).

Why all 50?

Client-"I have a friend/aunt/whatever in Alaska who is turning 65 next month, can you help her?

Agent-Checks companies in her area, rates, *etc. " I would be more than happy to discuss all of her options. What's her name and number?"

Marketing efforts or referrals.

My response..I would be happy to speak with her, however she like you could benefit from a local professional I would also be happy to recommend someone in her area...

If all your getting is one offs scattered around the country what's your cost for the licensing and don't forget the cost to add an appointed state to the carriers and if you have to grab a local carrier for that one case.

I have had good luck with referring to people on here.

Great question and information, thank you. I did go to the NIPR mentioned above but I found I have to apply to each state individually and that it does not specify requirements before hand. How will I know if my newly obtained NY state license will suffice? Any guidance, input on states that I can just get my license transferred to? I will appreciate it tremendously!

You don't transfer your license.

You get a non-resident license and as long as you're in good standing with your resident state (NY in your case), you'll be granted a license...assuming you pay the fee and don't have other issues.
