Question About FMO/IMOs

All,

Is it unusual for an agent to have appointments with more than 1 FMO/IMO?
I'm thinking of trying a different IMO and thus moving 2 or 3 life carriers for MP and leaving my health insurance appointments with an FMO.

Thanks in advance

Why would you want to place all business with ONE group, when others might be a better fit for company ABC, or XYZ???

I've yet to come across any IMO who's the perfect fit for ALL companies

For the most part you can.

That said, some groups do expect all your production or all your production from their core areas. Generally you are receiving something in return, leads, extensive case support, training, enhanced comp, etc.

Something to keep in mind. Specialists almost always make more than generalists. Pick an area and focus on it. Preferably one you are the most knowledgeable in, prefer, or are the most profitable in. Then develop referral relationships for those areas that are too far outside your comfort zone.

Too many agents spend way too much time chasing business that is outside their niche. Usually it is a huge case, but because they are clueless they don't realize they will never get it. Sometimes, it is as simple as the person is just sending you on a wild goose chase and you lack the experience to know better. The specialists in that area won't waste their time on them, so they come to you and let you waste yours.

I have a client that is looking for a life insurance with a rider that has some LTC coverage... I found only one with my IMO. looking to add a IMO to my IMO that may have some great Life insurance plans. I need some names of IMO's that may be good with newbies in this field
