Question Regarding Bcbs

Question regarding Blue Cross Blue Shield of ALABAMA.

For group health insurance larger 100+ is there another insurance carrier that is:

1. better or as good as BCBS of Alabama as far as benefits to employees

2. better or as good as BCBS of Alabama as far as benefits to employer (company) for cost efficiency

3. better or as good as BCBS of Alabama as far as benefits to agent writing the business (commissions and trails)

Looking for carrier that has all 3 above. For some reason BCBS of Alabama will not allow independent appointments. You can only provide BCBS alabama if you work for BCBS of alabama. Which is ridiculous.

You may want to consider UnitedHealthcare. BC/BS of Alabama totally dominates the group health market here in Alabama.

UHC can't match the network and discounts of BX. Neither can anyone else.

So basically what I am hearing is that there is nothing anyone can do regarding group health...other then work for BSBS Alabama to service the client....which I don't want to join BSBS Alabama.

You can try self funding.

When I lived in Birmingham we did a fair amount of self funded business in the state. Lee Vena (leevena) might have some ideas.
