Most of those directories are set up and created by the same people giving out and selling the submission software. I know, I tried them for a while, they are all laid out exactly the same, have low rankings, and have received no views or traffic. I used a submission software for my first few articles, then stopped, and went with the top 10 sites available. I have a couple thousand views on my articles now. I have about 9-10 articles published in the last month or so, and about 60-70% of my site's traffic is from the articles.

My goal is to have about 250 live articles in the near future. (I need to be more dedicated to writing) From my tracking that I have now, that should give me a ton of visitors every day just from articles.

Being high on search engines is great, but it is not the only way to drive traffic to your site. SEO is just a portion of online marketing. There are other things to do.
That's great that you're getting that much traffic from your articles. I was an English major in college and I don't mind writing if it will help me out. I write a small blog entry everyday (almost everyday) on my agency website, can I just copy and paste that to these article submission sites? Or does the material need to be unique?

It needs to be your original content, and usually between 250 and 5000 words, with good content, not just a sales pitch or something. Its not to hard to come up with the content. If you break down all the specific areas that your plans cover, and write a few articles on each topic then you will have a pretty good base. You can also work your plans in with current news and events.

Re: Generating Backlinks             Go to Top

I am not going to debate Dave's SEO knowledge - my only suggestion would be if you do this as a paid service, why don't you post your website, portfolio, and pricing online? If your knowledge is that good, maybe some others would be willing to pay for your services. I am not going to argue with you or anyone, I keep my posts on topic and add value.

As to this post I have had great success with EZINE, however there is a learning curve. EZINE tends to be one of the more particular article submissions sites, which is good it eliminates all of the garbage. EZINE also provides a huge amount of online training and education which can really get you to refine your skill level of article writing.

I will give you an example - if you Google "Obama Health Plan Sick" my article is mid way through the first page "Top 5 Reasons Obama's Health Plan Will Make You Sick".

This was picked up in 48 hours and has been up for many months. I received one client off of the article (that I am aware of), who thought the article was great - he purchased a HSA, life insurance, and has given me around 4 solid referrals so far.

Not bad for about 30 minutes worth of work.
