Somebody please tell me what the great new is about Gerber. Are their rates 1/2 of everyone elses? I don't understand all of the excitement if you already have great companies in your arsenal.
I will probably get appointed with them when they come to Virginia, but they can't be but so much better than UCT, WOW, MOO, etc. What's the big deal?
They have pictures of cute babies on their jars of food.
Somebody please tell me what the great new is about Gerber.
It is because they are a new company in the Med Supp market and in some states they are very competitive. They also add another good recognizable company to an agent's arsenal.
I'm sure you were probably fed Gerber when you were a baby. You probably even fed it to your children. You may have even taken one of their life policies out on your children.
When an agent mentions Gerber there is going to be an instant trust factor. The agent isn't going to have to explain why the prospect has never heard of the company. Kind of like you had to do with the woman you switched from MOO to, I forgot the name of the company.

Seems like pretty good rates to me. I'm pretty sure that AARP has the lowest rates in FL for the standard plans and Gerber seems to be about $5 less....normally it wouldn't be that big of a deal but AARP pays crap commission so I'm hoping I get better with Gerber.
At Great american we were told last week that they were pulling out of the med supp market so we are picking up Gerber, BCBS (which I have no desire to get appointed for) and royal neighbors.
What is Great American going to sell? They've pulled out of nearly everything. What the heck is going on with them?
They are pulling out only in FL with the Med Supps...sorry should of mentioned that. GA still offers final expense and annuities and they pulled out of LTC too. I personally don't care what they pull out of because we have a bunch of other companies to write for.
I talked to Frank and Gerber and was told that apps and supplies should be available on 10/07 and they will start accepting applications on 10/16. Kepp in mind that date is NOT set in stone but thats what they are shooting for.
10/16 is what Precision told me as well as a tentative date.

It may depend on what state, when it got approved, etc.

I was told that they are shooting for 2nd quarter in Louisiana and that in states where Assured Life (WOW) is being sold, Gerber won't be released until Assured has been out for about a year, when they'll start taking increases.

WOW is not in every state. Also, UCT is taking big rate increases and is no longer competitive in some states.

The big deal with Gerber is not the MedSupp -- it's the Select.
It will ROCK!
In general I'm not a fan of Select plans, but it may be a good option for budget conscious people who are losing MA coverage or whose plan is going up on premiums, copays, etc.
But Gerber's select apparently won't be in every state that they have been approved in, at least not at first.

I'm personally very excited about Gerber Medicare Supplements. The name, the rates, the commissions.... I love it. Check out GerberMedicareSupplement dot com. Was told they would have the supplies on there in PDF as soon as they're available.
I wanted to see if anyone has gotten anymore information on the release date, I was told on 10/07 that the supplies date was pushed back to 10/21/09 and official launch date for apps is 10/26/09, does anyone know if this date is solid or has it been pushed back again.
Thank you
