It occurred to me that I should at least look at carrier ratings that have been suggested to me by my potential GA. I have no idea if ratings even mean anything anymore. Do they? If the carrier goes under do we have liability? This all occurred to me when I was looking into E&O insurance to sell health.
Personally I have Wellpath which wasn't on the GA's list. I had World two years ago and I couldn't find them on AM Best or Fitch. They're listed but no ratings.
The carriers that I could find were all bbb + or -. Is this a rating I should feel comfortable with when recommending a plan to clients? In addition to the ratings I also noticed they give an outlook rating and that varied by the rater.
