How to Show Production in Premiums Written?

How do you show production in premiums written if you are thinking of starting your own business? Say, you have been with an independent agency for years working partly as an agent and partly writing new business. Do you just keep track of the new business you write each month, add up premiums and create a log? Thanks for any advice!
 
Run a report in any given carrier site. Unless your production is under an agency and you cant segregate it out.

Do you have a Management system you can pull your book out of?
