Should I Submit Application to Insurers?

Sorry for the newby question, but I am a new L&H agent. I currently do not work for any company. Should I submit my application to carriers I plan on doing business with in the state I live in? Do I still need to submit applications with carriers if I go captive? Or if I decide to go with a small brokerage do they send my application to the different carriers?? Thanks for the help guys.

You have to be appointed with the carrier in order to write business no matter which route you choose.

Here is an honest answer. You need to go captive with someone who will give you training. You obviously don't have a clue yet and need help and hand holding.

Yes from what I've been reading on the forums they don't sound like a bad company to start off with. Hate to go captive but I need the training.

The other Guru's are right, you need more training if you didn't even know you need to be "appointed". Captive carries will give you more quality training for you to understand the products better. Once you get that far, you'll also better understand the industry more. One step at a time!
