Going independent?             Go to Top

So I am an agent with a agency here in florida making 12% of annual premium for my commission.I am contracted through the agency with Blue Cross Blue shield and I was wondering do I have the ability to leave the agency( in the next year) and get contracted through Blue Cross Blue Shield myself. How does this going independent thing work?

So, if you are contracted with a company, any company, and you decide to try the "independent thing", how do you go about doing so?

Also...
Say you are involved with an IMO (I'm still not sure what that is), and the 3-6 carriers they have, can you leave the IMO and still retain appointments with the individual carriers?
