Anyone having more difficulties than normal with Golden Rule Underwriting? Throughout April it seemed they were scrutinizing my apps like crazy. I had about 60% of my apps have med records requested.
It was easier geting things through Anthem, which is NEVER the case.
It seems now days...Golden Rule will really only take clean apps. If they have anything like H.B., Choles, thyroid etc, they tend to pull records now. I loved G.R. but now I cant stand to business with them. Seems to me that they are on a witch hunt with every new application. Bottom line, if your client has any pre X, I would take them else where. They will rider the heck out of your clients.
Not sure about your last comment somarco. I spoke with my rep the other day and she was in tears due to all the problems that were going on and all the phone calls that she was getting from her brokers!
If the rep is in tears then she doesn't know how to do her job and probably has a bunch of duds for agents. I don't have the occasion to use GR as much as in the past, but I don't have problems with them. And they don't just get my clean business. In fact, they take more stuff that other carriers rejected than anyone else.
My apps w/ hbp & cholest are being scrutinized real bad. They actually had one client go get blood work done. I have NEVER had that happen. He was on one BP med and no tobacco and BMI was perfect. After 5 weeks of BS...DENIED! Took him to Anthem and approved in 36 hours.
I like GR but they are becoming too difficult to work with.
I personally dont think that it is just one person! Common sense would tell you its carrier. It's amazing that everyone else is having problems except you and it tends to be carrier base versus rep...hhmmm.
Most agents have no idea how to preview and pre-screen an app, nor do they know how to assemble an app in such a way as to present it in the best light. I do, and this gives me a leg up on most other agents who say they can't get things approved.
I probably write 3 - 4 apps a month where other agents have given up. Some times I get things approved with the same carrier that earlier denied coverage.

Correction, that's the Aetna app, GR's online app has a small box to give some details.

If necessary, I will fax a cover letter to the underwriter with further details/evidence for the case - with all carriers.
They always appreciate the thoroughness.

Maybe you can't, but I can.
I can't think of when I have ever had a paramed on a GR app. Had one a year ago or so for H1. Had a few for Time. Never for Aetna, KP or BX.
I have more declines from Aetna than anyone else but then I push the envelope with quite a few apps. Still, I have over 90% approval and taken across the board for all carriers.
Can't recall getting an approval on an app that wasn't taken. I have had a few folks just give up after a rejection. Not much I can do about that. I prep them on what to expect and where we will go, what we will do if the #1 choice doesn't pan out.
