Good Ol' Tom's (MyInsureBiz) Leads             Go to Top

Alrighty guys. Not too long ago, in this thread, Tom (MyInsureBiz) and I traded a little banter back and forth and it ended with me deciding to give his leads a shot.

That thread was the first time I ever spoke to Tom (I think we may have crossed paths once very early on in my career, but I don't recall for sure), and my preconceived notions of the guy were in line with many others - be careful, he might bite.

I have been very, very pleasantly surprised. The first week, Tom spent about an hour a day on the phone with me tweaking my campaign to get it where I wanted it. I then got cold feet and cut the numbers by 75%, which is why the numbers I'm going to report below are sort of deflated in terms of lead volume.

I tried his live transfers, and they were about the same quality I've seen with other transfers - no better, no worse. But frankly, I don't like transfers because they make me feel like I'm glued to my phone.

We then gave voicemail leads a shot, something I had never tried before. Basically it's a transfer where they press one to leave a voice message instead of to speak with a live agent. The voice mail is then recorded and sent to my email - it's sent directly to me, so it's truly exclusive. We're dialing for FE at present.

We're running the dialer from 9:30 - 11:30 Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and generating on average probably six voice messages a day. The majority of those are "take me off your list" messages or hang ups, which is to be expected with this sort of thing. Out of every 8-10 voicemails, I'm getting one solid lead. No filters with something like this, so all ages and health statuses come through.

ROI as of today is 4:1, with a deal pending that would take it up to 9:1 when it goes through. I'll take that.

Mostly, I've been really impressed with Tom working with me so much to get the campaign running how I want it. Yes, our good buddy Tom does pimp his product quite a bit on these here forums, but after having tried it I'll say it's a product worth pimping.

What happens come September, when the law goes into affect?

And further more, I'd like Tom to answer that question, what will he pimp out next or instead of the autodialer leads?

Thanks Nick.

Lead production, just as in Insurance sales - isn't rocket science. You just gotta have a game plan and implement it.

I look forward to a long, fruitful relationship.

My group will not be affected for at least a year. we have an opt-in list of people seeking insurance quotes of over 42 million names / numbers. Now - since a DNC scrub is only good for 90 days after someone "opts in" - we expect about an 8% attrition rate. So - we'll be dialing until Nov / Dec of 2010 I imagine.

Then - to answer your question - we'll market to consumers with a predictive dialer, charge $25 a lead and still be productive. Plus - dialing into a biz isn't regulated by the 9/09 enactment.

That is a great question. I have seen a few guys like Tom in other fields selling the same service. I had my own co-location until I decided to sell it 2008. It was very obvious it was coming to an end for VB so I took the money from that and bought a hosted predictive dialer service (no voice recordings) and expanded my printing facility.

Don't get me wrong, Here is the thing with VB......It can work if you have good list and you pound it a few times with a good provider with good call quality and script. Its a matter of time before will be over soon for most of the guys selling this service. Im sure a few may will hang on and smash all the aged opt in internet leads lists from the internet lead companies aged databases for a while until those burn out as well. After that its all current clients which might not be all that bad every 3 months or so to get a call from your agent seeing how everything is going. That may get some referrals and better client retention for some creative agents of various fields however that does limit the amount of potential buyers that have big enough databases to do volume. In short...its on its last leg.....if you want to get in a couple runs before its gone do so but check for the laws in your state because some states are already illegal. Just be careful.
