He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on
multiple occasions.
In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya , Iran , and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist whoslaughtered 300,000 of his own people. And the Democrats are complainingabout how long the war is taking.

Don't get me going on Nam - I've done a lot of research on Nam which is quite interesting and there are parallels to Iraq and Bush.
False: that we went to war in Nam because we had a treaty stating that we'd help keep S.Nam democratic.
False: that we went to war due to the domino theory
True: that the war started over military lies over the Gulf of Tonkin (research it - interesting stuff.) We claimed the Maddox was attacked which led to a retaliatory strike. Turns out, the Maddox was never attacked. Of course, the Vietnamese retaliated to our retaliation and only after that was an escalation of troops approved.
Johnson used that attack as grounds for resolution giving him the power to attack without Congress declaring war. How many people died in Nam from both sides over that lie? Compare that to Iraq.
Great Post! Let's compare the stupidity of going into Vietnan with the "wisdom" of Iraq. Korea wasn't such a hot idea either.
Please explain the crushing of the Taliban (gaining even more strength) and instead of "crippling Al-Qaida" we've done a great job of recruiting more terrorists by our presence in the area.

Truman - Democrat - responsible for the largest mass murder of civilians in the history of the world....and entirely avoidable.
We had already done several underground successful nuclear tests. We knew the damned things worked.
The proposal to Truman was to conduct a nuclear bomb blast on a remote island off Japan while the Japanese military watched. Truman shot that down - saying if the bomb didn't go off as planned it would have been an embarrassment.
How many people on this board would have opted to detonate the 1st bomb on an island while the Japanese watched and given them the option to surrender before murdering hundreds of thousands of civilians.

Not me. The Japanese had ruthlessly slaughtered millions of civilians and tortured countless POW's. They pulverized China and slaughtered and raped everything that moved until it didnt move. The United States changed its strategy toward Japan after Okinawa and Iwo Jimo. We vastly underestimated the number of men it would take to take those islands and the determination of the Japanese to fight well beyond any point of reasonableness. Consequently, the US military calculated that it would cost at least an additional 200,000 men to take the Japanese homeland and that the Japanese would slaughter any of their own civilians before letting them surrender as they had down elsewhere.
You think the Japanese at Iwo would have surrendered if they saw a nuke detonated in the sea nearby? They would not.
When the bomb was dropped, there were thousands and thousands of Marines on board ship headed toward Japan and their fate was almost certain if the Japanese did not surrender first. The concept of a Japanese soldier surrendering did not even exist at that time. One of those Marines on board ship is 92 years old now. My father. Enough was enough with the Japanese, for Christ's sake. It had to end however unpretty and repugnant. An invasion of the homeland would have cost even more lives on both sides than the bomb did. They would have fought right down to the last man and until the last civilian committed suicide. Some of the American soldiers had been at war for years and years, what was left of them. They did not have the luxury of complaining about having to do second or third tours. They were in until they were dead or it was over or the United States surrendered.
This is not to say that there does not need to be compassion for the civilians and indeed this bullshit of war in the world needs to end. That is not the point.
