I saw your post and wanted to mention that I just got an email from Assurant today about a new Pilot program for early-stage diabetics.

They are including coverage for a qualified segment of diabetics (non-insulin dependent I believe). They also mentioned it will still be rated but I might submit an app for one of my clients and see what happens.
