Google voice would be useful if they did 2 things:
- Allowed you to set caller id (even if via a verification process), or allowed you to port your number to them.
- Sent calls directly to voicemail without so many additional rings.
Since I couldn't make them use my business number, there was no way to have people call my google voice number. No, I wasn't going to change my number for a free service I was unsure about. I thought, great, I'll just use it for voicemail, the voice to text service was something I was paying for with simulsays (simulsays.com) already and thought it was very useful.
Unfortunately, forwarding to google voice, unless they changed something, means the person listens to my desk phone ring 5 times, then google voice for 4 times, then it picks up. Wasn't very acceptable.
In a bit of time, it will be a great tool. Not quite there yet.
