What a great post! Giving is such an important part of business for everyone and even for those who aren't in business. As a family, we try to do baskets, volunteer and do a children's drive through my local WIN (Women In Networking) group.
I personally try to get my kids involved because I feel you have to lead by example or kids these days just won't "get it". Giving has become a part of their lives now.

Great post!
However...if you do not give, our new administration will force you to.

Do not give over the phone to telemarketers - regardless of the charity - a huge cut goes to the marketing firm.
I like giving local and direct to the charities. Also - food is king. A lot of food kitchens are hurting and food donations are down.
Regardless of what you think about the homeless our country's far too rich for anyone to go hungry.
I totally agree - that's why I put my post about Costco out. I was surprised that it was nearly the same price for an 8-pack of chili as an 8 pack of vegetables.
Oh, and here's a link to HoneyBaked Ham, 50% off. Wish I'd had it before I bought on Christmas Eve! (Although it does appear to be limited to certain states - go figure!)

I agree. The only place that gets $ from me is church.
Everyone else gets food, clothing, etc.
