These are hard times for a lot of people, but not for everyone. Some of us, even in this economic downturn, are doing well.

Charities get the least when they need it the most.

If you have done well this year, please consider giving to some deserving person or organization.

Please also consider adding some giving to your monthly budget at least until we are out of this recession.

What a great post! Giving is such an important part of business for everyone and even for those who aren't in business. As a family, we try to do baskets, volunteer and do a children's drive through my local WIN (Women In Networking) group.

I personally try to get my kids involved because I feel you have to lead by example or kids these days just won't "get it". Giving has become a part of their lives now.

Have a great holiday!

Great post!

However...if you do not give, our new administration will force you to.

Voluntary giving means that you get to decide who deserves your money.

Great post. Give - but give direct and do a little homework. You don't want 95 cents out of your dollar to go to admin and BS.

Do not give over the phone to telemarketers - regardless of the charity - a huge cut goes to the marketing firm.

I like giving local and direct to the charities. Also - food is king. A lot of food kitchens are hurting and food donations are down.

Regardless of what you think about the homeless our country's far too rich for anyone to go hungry.

I totally agree - that's why I put my post about Costco out. I was surprised that it was nearly the same price for an 8-pack of chili as an 8 pack of vegetables.

Oh, and here's a link to HoneyBaked Ham, 50% off. Wish I'd had it before I bought on Christmas Eve! (Although it does appear to be limited to certain states - go figure!)

I'm big on donating food for charity. To me it's the most pure way to give knowing that all of my money spent goes to help.

Call me a cynic but I wonder how much of a dollar ends up benefiting the needy when you throw it in the Salvation Army bucket.

I agree. The only place that gets $ from me is church.

Everyone else gets food, clothing, etc.

They paid $150 to $200 a month on their group plan, now gone... and that was about their limit.
