Actually Combined Insurance was my first insurance gig in 1986. I was just an agent with them. I was just out of the Marine Corps and my goal was to make 30k a year. It doesn't seem like much now but back then that's all I made. On the plus side they had some good motivational sales training for a newbie down in Chicago at the W. Clement Stone Building. They made me read some good books like The Richest Man in Babylon, which sparked my interest in the insurance and investment field. On the bad side it was all door to door. Plus side they had a list of renewals which was quick and easy sales. The rest of the door to door stuff got old real quick. I did hit my goal but burned out one day and couldn't knock on another door to save my life. So I went back into the Marine Corps. That was 23 years ago so I can't tell you if they've changed or not.

I've recently been appointed at Combined Insurance. From what I've been told and learned so far about the company is that it has changed through the years. There is no more door to door and more products to sale.

You must mean either "more products for sale" or "more products to sell." For a moment I thought you were talking about a sailboat.

What is being talked about in the OP is probably what they now call 7th Essential or something like that, which sells accident policies, cancer policies, etc.

I'd be surprised to find there is no more door to door since as with AFLAC and similar companies, that's been the main way to sell these types of plans, whether it's to businesses or knocking in residential areas.
