CMS Annouces 2016 OE Period

Wow how does CMS expect agents who do IFP and Medicare to possibly operate with overlapping AEP's? Great idea lets do it all at the same time!

Do you think CMS gives a sh1t about how an agent would be able to service his or business?

Re: CMS Annouces 2K16 OE Period

Not just the agents, the carriers impacted as well. If the carrier is involved in Medicare and Obamacrack they do 80%+ of their business within 90 days.

Retail shops can gear up with untrained staff for the Christmas shopping season. Carriers really can't do that.

When the carriers can't process new business + forced terminations of existing business when midnight 12/31 rolls around it impacts us.

All of us can thank Congress for this.

When Medicare carriers can't process business fast enough they are sanctioned. How long before the same thing happens with Obamacrack carriers?

Re: CMS Annouces 2K16 OE Period

I am very impressed that we will give Medicare recipients (who have a rather stable set of options at this point) a head start on making their choices for the new year...

While we will provide the working class (who is supporting all the bills from all sides) 6 weeks to make a decision instead of 8 weeks, over the holidays, and in a still volatile market...

Classic CMS style... :err: Brilliant!

Page 8 states:

Open Enrollment 11/1/2015 – 1/31/2016

:err: What happened to the Oct to Dec that was being discussed?

HHS suddenly changed it to 11/1 thru 1/31 without giving any reason. Perhaps insurers wanted this date range, which gives them 1 additional month to prepare for O.E.? That would explain why HHS didn't give a reason...they HATE health insurers, and would never admit that a rule was adjusted to make them happy.
