Chumps posted it above. Scroll down a little and to the right. You'll see the news link

Well if you follow my link, it clearly shows the language of SB 1 was changed to the language of HB 838. So if SB 1 passed, there's no need to even vote on HB 838. I just don't know if SB 1 needed to be voted on again by the Senate since the language was changed or if it is now headed to the Governor.

Latest news is that the bill died due to conflict-of-interest, and Republican lawmakers wanting to stay out of "wage" issues.

Interesting snippet: "Republican lawmakers have long criticized government attempts to involve itself in the marketplace, particularly on wage issues. And the fact that the idea came from a powerful House leader who sells health insurance for a living raised conflict-of-interest questions."

A powerful House leader who sells health insurance for a living!?!? Are Georgia legislature positions volunteer charity gigs?

Georgia legislators are essentially part time jobs. They are only in session for something like 3 weeks a year.

Most have full time jobs in other professions, including insurance.

When Jimmy Carter was in the legislature he was primarily a peanut farmer.

They earn a whopping $17,342 per year plus a per diem of $173 for each day they are in session (40 days). So they get a total of just over $24,000 and many have to stay in a hotel while they are in session.

Not every state is like Illinois where elected officials like a city council position earn nice salaries.
