I am I interpreting your explanation correctly in that when the olive oil is used to impregnate the mountain goats, that is when it loses its virginity?

Go to the FDA website, and check "Section 17 Grading Changes." On about the 14th page, you can read about olive oil.
In part, it says, "the FDA no longer recognizes past grading formulas for olives." Therefore "virgin" olive oil must be re-classified by 1-1-10 by all manufacturers.

You guys obviously do not know about either virgins or olive oil to wit:
Chumps, gave an erudite answer as to how olive oil loses its viriginity. However, olive oil loses it virginity in the time-honored manner which involves the popping of cherries as part of the process.
Next, Mr. Gallo suggested that virgin oil is made from the highest quality olives. This is not precisely so. It does not refer to the quality of the oil but to the stage of processing. "Virgin" means that the oil is formed from the first pressing of the olives which is almost always a cold-pressing. This form of oil is a little cruder but has more flavor and nutritional value. The more refined oils involve multiple pressing, heat treating and chemicals to extract and refine the oil, and thus are not virginal.
Should you have any other questions along this line do not hesistate to ask. I knew a girl in high school who was a virgin at least six times over last I knew so I learned about these things early on.

Geez, Winter, thank you for solving the mystery for me. I should have known that "you have to pop the cherry," but where does the cherry get involved in the process? But Y.L. Prinzel gave the best answer----she indicated you have to "pop the pit." When the pit is gone, the olive is no longer virginal, so I would assume the oil from that olive cannot be called "virgin." Ergo, virgin olive oil is made from unpitted olives, i.e., those that have not lost their pit!
