Can Marketplace Health Insurance Terminate for Not Sending In Documents?

If there is a next year for me if I even have someone I think may qualify I am going to tell them I know this guy down south :D:D:D and then give them Senator Nelson's phone number.

He's in never never land, on the news last night he was sending his regrets on the helicopter crash in Navarre, Fl, santa rosa sound, but said in a drunken manner that it went down around Eglin in choctawhachee bay, quite a ways from where it went down. I think he is the perfect solution for anyone wanting a subsidy, heck he doesn't even know where he is half the time.

My most recent was a BCBSIL plan that was terminated by the Marketplace because the client didn't send in "proof" of 2014 income..which is a stupid request anyway. (She's a waitress) Actually, she did mail an estimate to them in Sep2014, but apparently the Marketplace never got it. Suddenly she gets a letter in late Feb from HC.gov stating that she's being terminated on 3/1/2015.

The BCBSIL client page showed that she was paid all the way up to 2/28/2015, but also showed the note: "Terminated - Other - Eff: 2-28-2015". Details showed her premium paid and subsidy received like clockwork from 2/1/2014 thru 2/1/2015...then, terminated in the blink of an eye on 3/1/2015.

I guess the bottom line in this new age is that agents can no longer take responsibility for anything related to a Marketplace plan-basically you sign them up and let them deal with everything else on their own, it's the only way to avoid any potential liability.

If they drop off the books, so be it...

Yes, this is exactly the way this one went: however, I did find out they wanted proof of citizenship; not wages. He sent his passport in to KY, which seems to go into some deep, dark hole. I've had people send in documents numerous times. What do those people do? And there is no way to get in touch with them.

No citizenship papers due in 14' or 15' = plan termination
(just reapply with plan termination SEP)

No income verification received = loss of tax credit

Only way to ensure paperwork is logged, is to upload document in HC.gov account

Thank you. I appreciate your help.

I've now had a couple of these occur. When a client sends in their income verification:

1. If higher income, then tax credit is reduced, and a new determination letter is generated, and the price goes up.

2. On the letter, it shows the first person have an APTC of $20 (new aptc amount), but the rest of the family still shows $110/mo (old aptc amount)

This particular client sent in 2014 1040 tax form as his proof for 2015 projected income. There is no way to accurately send in proof of 2015 income, or be at the whim of the HC.gov rep to "interpret" what you've sent in. I can't imagine they hired people who understand taxes/income, but rather data input specialists who objectively put in the numbers provided, with no subjectivity.

I expect a LOT of this is going to happen.

Not necessarily true. I had a client upload income verification by logging into their hc.gov account. They still got kicked off of their plan. When we called hc.gov, we were told even though they uploaded info, they did not write their application number on each page, so the information wasn't assigned to their account. They now have to mail in the info as the upload feature is no longer available because they used it???

Also, per their online account, their plan will be TERMINATED on 3/31/15 because information was not received. Hc.gov is not just taking their subsidy away, they are cancelling the entire policy. It defies logic.

This is just the beginning.........my client just got a 2400% rate increase.

Uploaded the documents a month ago to match projected income.
But, just found out they took away the entire subsidy of $600/mo and now has a rate increase from $25/mo to $625/mo.

Client was between 100-150% FPL.

My money is on they didn't see the second source of income, put them below 100% FPL in non medicaid FL, and lost entire subsidy. Also lost the CSR 94%.

Nothing is certain with exchange business. I'm working harder to keep biz on the books, than I did to write the business. Fricken joke.

Yes, they are terminating the entire policy. This is absurd! And then, I was told to use the SEP 'terminated' policy to reactive .... on a policy the marketplace terminated. Unbelievable! I see lawsuits. What if something happened to these people in the meantime?

Yes, I second the fricken joke comment. I am not going to try to get anymore of these. It is just awful!
