Everything You Need To Know About The American Healthcare Act

Here's a good article going over everything significant in the American Health Care Act and what, as the title suggest, people need to know.

I would link it, but I don't have 20 posts on this forum. It's called 'Everything You Need to Know About the American Healthcare Act' from The EC Journal. It's also on the home page on their website.

Here's a list of the headers in the article that summarizes each of the major thing in the bill:
Protection to stay on parent’s plan until 26 survives.
Removal of individual mandates.
States could choose to opt-out of ACA essentials.
Medicaid expansion would be phased out.
States can choose to receive Medicaid funding through block grants.
Allows insurers to charge more for people with preexisting conditions.
The bill benefits the rich and healthy; hurts the poor and sick.
Tax credits would be based on age, rather than income.
Premiums would be higher for older enrollees.
The AHCA would fund high-risk pools for people losing their coverage.
The AHCA would cause millions to lose their health coverage.

This is the stuff that makes me completely insane so many people like to just spew off and not do the research - are you aware that right now out of 320 million people that live in the u.s. only nine million have actually paid any kind of premium for Obamacare whether it's $20 or $1,200 and 12 million that the media loves to say are on Obamacare are just an extension Medicaid and the only reason they are on Medicaid is because the ACA lowered the bar to make people eligible for Medicaid. This rhetoric that Millions will lose coverage is crap. Before the Obamacare handouts began there were State pools there was Private Enterprise competition and sure nothing is perfect there's horror stories everywhere there's hard stories with car insurance and life insurance and business insurance homeowners insurance but it is high time to get the government out of health insurance because this never was about Healthcare it was all about control of health insurance. We are not a socialistic country yet and private Enterprise and capitalism is what makes us great I love how the media likes to have big stories about one or two single people that have had nightmares with their health when there's millions and millions and millions out of that 320 million they don't have the big drama. I'm all for a change I'm all four states having control of what they're going to offer and not offer and I think maybe we could all go back to business again the millions that are going to lose coverage is the projection that the left side said could possibly have insurance maybe if Obamacare didn't quadruple every year if they don't do anything the 2018 premiums are going to put everybody out of coverage and you're going to look at a real nightmare
Benefits the rich and healthy hurts the sick and poor gee I wonder where you got that one let me guess was Chuck or Nancy?

As opposed to attacking the person who started the thread, maybe look up what it was he was referring to? There is an article at The EC Journal.

kgmom219, you are so right, it is all about fear and the sky is falling.

Yes I understand that he was quoting a article but it's the same rhetoric over and over obviously he believes it

Use it to your advantage with your clients.

Send out an email with a quick summary. And a reminder to contact you if they have any questions before panicking. Make sure to include "this is all crap til the Senate does something".

YOU are the expert. YOU are the one who understands this issue. They are paying you to be on top of the drama. If your clients are panicked about AHCA, you aren't doing a good job keeping them informed.

Hmmm.....no mention of the fact that rate increases of 22% in 2017 were forthcoming.....resulting in a 50% drop in numbers.... a fairly accurate prediction. :1confused::swoon:

Those on ACA compliant plans especially those with incomes over the subsidy level have reason to be concerned. Rates are stooopid high (because of reasons already stated) and viable alternatives are unavailable AND options are decreasing.

AHCA proposals do nothing to address the real issues and there is no political will to fix the problem. How do you spell cluster ****?
