Problems all around. the new one for today is someone calling in to report a change of income. Of $800 a year. Because the marketplace has scared the crap out of them with emails about reporting changes in income (no affect on silver cost share, changes premium by something like $10 a month)
The marketplace rep forgot to add their smoker surcharge. Somehow a marketplace file was sent to the carrier which has told them to issue a credit to the man for 4 months worth of smokers surcharges. Which they do. Then it is fixed, because on hc.gov he is now a smoker and carrier has the correct monthly premium for next month with smoker surcharge.
Not sure how to handle this one. Carrier is saying he doesn't have to pay for May because he is paid up (due to being ordered to give a credit for overcharging by the marketplace), but you bet they will be the first to term for nonpay when they get the updated file asking for the credit back and they guy hasn't paid.
Would rather cold call for dental insurance at this point than call the marketplace one more time.
