United Health Keeping Reforms Regardless of Decision

See John and you thought "free markets" don't work.......least that is what Obama says and you like Obama. :twitchy:

the provisions discussed are not far from where they were b4 HCR

preventive... was covered with a limit b4 and prices were raised accordingly

age 26... who cares, premiums applied

resencions... never a problem to begin with and they can still resind now

unlimited coverage... big whoop, never was a major factor

NOW.... the biggie, GI on child only? yep, they state no promises.... hahaha... you mean naw, we dont think so..

thye can say what they want but once the free market can get back to driving the health insurance car the competitive market will kick in again and commissions will rise and things will get back to normal on benefit conifigration

This is a ho-hum announcement that may get some play in the MSM but really means nothing. Even more so when you read this admission in the release.

None of these provisions will be free for consumers. If insurers cut these benefits, customers probably will expect a corresponding premium drop, he noted.

Well duh!

Of course we already knew that. The cost of these Obama "freebies" are built in to the premium. Only the idiots that voted for that terd really believed they were free.

UnitedHealth did not promise to extend another initial overhaul provision that requires the coverage of children with pre-existing conditions up to age 19. The insurer said it recognizes the provision's value, but one company alone cannot extend the provision if the law is struck down.

So they are not really sticking their neck out too far.

I can't speak for other areas, but in Georgia they have failed to deliver a competitive product for at least 4 years. None of this really matters.

There's another thread on this forum where several of us predicted that all the major carriers in the market would keep reforms like these anyway, since the insurance companies know what the general public never really understood - these particular reforms were never very expensive nor risky in the first place. It would take more money to reverse all the certificate filings at this point than to just keep them. Besides, it's terrific PR and less kindling for the next round of firestorm arguments for health care reform.

Still taking bets...So is this bad boy health bill going down completely, or just the mandate goin' bye bye? Come on lets keep talking about this tired horsey.

Carriers are not going set back the few feel good policies of the ACA. What they will drop is the MLR.
If the MLR get erased glory days are here again for small group and Individual market. UHC/GR was running the 67% loss ratio before MLR kicked in.

The article makes a good point about how small the individual and small group market is compared to the rest of UHC block.

People don't understand that the big carriers make the least on this segment.

UHC has reinsurance on the small group bloc with a spec of $50,000. Even the biggest carrier in the country has reinsurance.
