Washington State 2014 Requested Premiums Released

I read that the Kaiser plan is the most popular in Washington. In 2014 it's charging $1,800 a month for a 60/58 smoking couple with one 24 year old son on their Silver HSA policy. I enrolled this family here (Illinois) on the Blue Cross HSA $2,600 deductible last week for $739.00 per month.

Oof - that's brutal.

But then again, that's pre-subsidy. Time to crank up the printing presses!

Kaiser has a small footprint in southwest Washington in an area closer to Portland than Seattle.

Premiums have always been on the higher side here because there is much less underwriting and ease of transition from one plan to another without a pre-ex as well.

The Blues and Group Health are the big three in this state. They hold about 45% of the market between them. Kasier I think has between 4-5%.

stuy119,
That should make you spit out your drink...because we are the ones paying for the subsidy...
