So how is this really any different from a typical agency, other than they expect the clients to walk into them instead of going to the clients? Build it and they will come. If only it were that easy.

Is this supposed to be a threat to anyone?
Forget it. As a rule, people no longer want a "face to face" meeting. They want the anonymity / privacy of the internet. They want to move at their own pace, do their own research, mull over things for about 90 days - 1 1/2 years and then move forward and frankly, this is the type of client you want.
These people who walk into a retail "store" are gumbies. To paraphrase Moonlighter, broke, sick, tire kickers; who are just in a hurry to save a few bucks on their next doc. visit ... as a rule. Even if they do "sign" them, they should expect no retention and nothing but a b*tch fest. If the volume is there, some agencies are o.k. with this and think all business is good business, not me.

It's only funny because it's so true.

Respect.
Yeah, this is why you have to have as big a pipeline as possible. A lot of times these "stragglers" end up being your best long term clients. Sure, it can be tedious waiting on them, but I'd rather deal with people who plan ahead and research a little vs.. the dork who says to him / herself, "Ooooo looky hea, a Blue Cross insurance stowa. How conveeeeenyent, etc."
