OLDWICK, N.J., Oct 06, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- A.M. Best Co. has placed the financial strength ratings (FSR) of A+ (Superior) and issuer credit ratings (ICR) of "aa-" of the key life/health and property/casualty insurance subsidiaries of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (The Hartford) (Hartford, CT) [NYSE: HIG] under review with negative implications. Concurrently, A.M. Best has placed the ICR of "a" and all debt ratings of The Hartford under review with negative implications. (See link below for a detailed listing of the companies and ratings.)
These rating actions reflect The Hartford's announcement earlier today that it has entered into a binding agreement with Allianz Societes Europaea (Germany) to provide a $2.5 billion capital investment, following significant realized and unrealized investment losses and other charges incurred through third quarter 2008, which are heavily weighted to the life/health operations.
You are correct. I will check out some other companies as well.
