Ouch! That was painful to look at...the only thing missing was the martini glass in hand, but then, he claims to be currently a teetotaler...

Oh, and I also missed the part about cel phone in hand so he could call the cops right away. Oh yea, he didn't do that, either, now did he?

Did they have cell phones back then? I guess he couldn't notify the police until he was thoroughly dry---in more ways than one.

Well of course they didn't have them back then, but the cartoon is 2008. Why on earth would anyone be expected to notify the police if you've just left a woman in "the drink" so to speak? Really...do you think he took a bit of a nap-i-poo before someone finally convinced him to make the call? Wonder what he dreamed about?

Honestly, how that man can wake up in the morning and face his sorry guilty ass in the mirror everyday, oh, yeah right, I guess he really is no better than Charlie Manson. Except Charlie Manson doesn't get to vote.

I can see some wacko trying to cover it up by pretending that nothing happened if they had gotten away free and clear but jeeeeeeeezus his mothers car was still in the water with kopeckne in it and kennedy plates on the car. He went back to the hotel and then complained about not being able to sleep due to partying going on and next day talks about the sailing race. Meantime, the car with the body is still in the water. The old boy system really banded together to protect his ass. Now he lectures the Republicans daily on morality.

Can't imagine or even fathom in a billion years leaving someone drowned in a lake and going back to sleep in a hotel. 2 months in jail suspended? You have to be kidding me.

I am not defending Larry Craig in any way. I will let him do that. But it is kind of strange that there is national and state outrage there and calls for his resignation while the voters from the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts dont think twice about electing Kennedy. Did the Senate censure Kennedy? I dont think so. I am not sure so if they did I will stand corrected.

Well we need someone on the board who was around when it happened. I was 2 but read about it in school.

I can't see a single scenario where this man stayed in the Senate after that incident. The entire voting population must have lost their minds.

It's amazing who gets a pass and who doesn't. Lucky for Kennedy he didn't do some secret restroom gay signal to a cop - then he'd have been out of the Senate.

Well, times have changed. We have very little "journalism" left in our culture, people don't read, and of course, there's the instantaneous element of the internet.

Remember the whole Dubai Ports World fiasco? It was the power of the people to prevent that from happening, and yet look how far we haven't come since.

Would be interesting to read the NYT editorials back in the day to see if they ever even mentioned the drink fiasco. Betcha they didn't!

The whole Kennedy family grew up watching their father drink and womanize. One time old Joe was poking a hollywood starlett out for a cruise on his yacht, when the young boy who was to be president, awoke from the sleeping quarters to find his daddy doing the dirty deed. He jumped overboard and tried to kill himself only to be rescued. This kind of blatent disregard for decency was passed down from generation to generation. The family became filthy rich from bootlegging during prohibition. There is a facination in this country with thumbing your nose at authority and getting rich illegally as long as you don't get caught. The Kennedy family has been able to mix legit enterprizes and politics with greed and power broking to get what they want. The public has been sympathetic because of the way his brothers were killed. That whole romance with young fresh faces who were going to take our country to a new era that was cut short carried him his whole political carreer.

How true. fostever! If you or I or any member of this forum had pulled Teddy's stunt it would have meant at least 10 to 20 years in the slammer.
