Normally I never go to the home page, as I have the book mark set to go right to the forum landing page. But this morning I clicked it just to see what was there because I'm using the new Firefox 3 and I wanted to see how it renders all pages of my frequent sites (does a good job. Try it.)
I'm sure it is not my place to question what Sam wants on his home page, but somehow an advertisement for Frank Stastny (that is how I read it... it has his phone number and "suggestion" that he be called) is not my idea of what the home page for this forum should be.
Maybe Mr. Stastny paid for the space for his editorial subsequent link? That is fine as well. Do others have a chance to "bid" on this space (No, I'm not interested, just wondering.)
Don't read more into this than there is. While I think the narrative that Mr. Stastny penned is not only poorly written and incorrect, at the end of the day it is not a big thing. That's strictly my personal opinion and I don't ask nor do I expect anyone to share it.
I'm just raising the question of whether or not others feel that this home page is representative of the wide diversity of opinions on marketing that we see in this community. There is no wrong answer. I'm not making this a crusade. It is just a point of discussion... nothing more... no hidden agenda, etc.
Again, for those of you who do not read well (and because Sam, you are so touchy about any criticism) I am not questioning Sam's or anyone's authority to put on the home page what anyone wants to put there. I'm just raising the question. Is that OK to do here? If not, Sam (or some other moderator) please feel free to delete or lock this post.
Personally, I would have preferred a well-written statement from Sam as to what the purpose and charter of this community is all about, and perhaps a welcome message... but that's me... and everyone here knows that in this community I'm widely regarded (both rightly and proudly so) as...
The Jackass
(Or by some as THAT Jackass! It's all good!)
I put out a call over a year ago asking if any members wanted to write an article for the agent resources section. Frank was the only one who took me up on the offer.
As far as the homepage goes, that article is simply filling the space while I prepare the new homepage. I wanted to see what it looks like with a block of text. Of course a simple email or pm would have elicited this information, but hey, that is not your style.
However, it now turns out to have been a nice opportunity for us all to be reminded that we can always count on you to look for ways to criticize and share your negativity. In this case I am torn, was your post prompted by your dislike for Frank or by your dislike for me? Tough call...
In this case I am torn, was your post prompted by your dislike for Frank or by your dislike for me? Tough call...
Why is that a tough call? It is well-known in this community that I don't "like" either one of you on a personal basis (as much as one can have a "personal" relationship on chat board), nor do either one of you much care for me (to put it diplomatically.) That's life in the big city. We all don't like or love everyone. But we all seem to live and let live.
But this post was not about our likes and loves, and I tried as best I could to state that. Sam, you need to be less "touchy" to criticism. You need to learn to read, think, and then write. You need to understand that in this world not everyone is going to agree with you on every issue... and that just because someone disagrees with you, it is not always personal (although sometimes it is... the real talent is in knowing when!)
If you saw this post as a "hit" against you (or Frank) I'm sorry, because that is not what it was... although if you want to believe that, I have no doubt that there is no way I nor anyone else can change your mind. (You say I'm negative. Are there enough negatives in that sentence?)
You complain that threads turn into personal attacks. But that is exactly what you have done here in this one. It was about the home page... not you, not Frank, and not our mutual dislike for one another. I don't know why you wanted to go there, but you did and I am just responding as honestly and as diplomatically as I can.
There are things I kind of don't care about and things I really don't care about.
But the level of "I don't care" regarding who has an article on the first page cannot be calculated by any computer in the world. I care more about what Britney Spears is doing then I care about articles on the front page.

Al...if you are "just raising the question"...why don't you stick to that assertion and just raise the question?

Al...if you are "just raising the question"...why don't you stick to that assertion and just raise the question?
I thought I did. I tried to go overboard in saying that this was NOT about Frank or Sam... but just about the home page. ("Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." Look it up.)
The owner and the mods here have fairly large egos... and they don't take too kindly to any kind of criticism of this venue no matter how slight, because they think it is personal. In this case I tried to state that it is just about the home page, that it is NOT a big deal... it was just a point of discussion.
I'm almost convinced that you can't HAVE a discussion here without being accused of making a personal attack... or receiving one.
I don't know WHY everyone is so contentious here. After all, this is the internet... not real life!!!!
Well, I for one have to thank Al for bringing it up. I really don't care one way or the other about it, but I thought that there was something wrong with my computer when every time I log on to this forum that article by Frank pops up. I was glad to learn that it is not the fault of my computer. Al's post enlightened me. No offense intended to Frank, Sam, Al or anyone else on this forum.
Al, are you a dumbass? This is nothing personal or a pos to call you out. I was just wondering? Again, nothing personal.
When I said some of you don't read too well, I meant it... and Senior proves it. Senior, the word is JACKASS, not dumbass (which is not a word anyway, unless you hyphenate it.) Jackass, Senior. Jackass. Do you think you can remember that?
You work with older citizens who have memory issues, right? I'm sure they identify quite well with you.
One more time Senior. J A C K A S S. Say it again. JACKASS. You think you got it now? Jeez, Louise I hope so.
I find it hard to believe that someone would say that you cant like or love people over this forum. I have made some really good friends on this forum who I truly care about. I have also been highly offended by others, and I honestly dislike them.
As for Franks article... who cares? I didnt even read it, lol, no offense Frank.

I agree with much of what you wrote. However, I did read Frank's article and I care.

The Jackass.
Why are you so angry? I put "nothing personal". I was just raising the question. Sorry Jackass.
