say... looket, we got u issused, but they slaped a rider on female stuff... it's 1 year.... u got off good, take it! that is unless she has no rider on what she has now and did not get a big rt increase... if so ...then u should punt... have her go to obgyn, get a new pap smear and submit to uw within 30 days for an appeal

Good stuff... I like the way you put it.. "female stuff"... She has no insurance, so this is way better than her current plan...
I know that mammograms are state mandated, but I guess her OB visits with be out-of-pocket for a year... no biggie I'm thinking...
I hate dealing with "below the belt" riders...

I'm going to hope that you don't ever really say stuff like this and also hope that no one listens to this type of advice.

BCBS might not rider this... but, I got a rider like this from Unicare the other day... There's no $3000 cap on RX with World or Unicare.. BCBS on the other hand...
What about ER copays? With kids... not a bad benefit...
18 month rate guarantee... what is BC/BS... 6 months?
Just kidding... but seriously.. this plan made sense for her. And, if it was more than a bad pap, this rider could be applied with many carriers. I will say, this is a total shock to me. Probably a strange pap since nothing was ever mentioned during qualification?

If you sound uncomfortable, how will she feel responding?
How about you be mature, honest and informative but tactful?

Yeah, "female stuff" sounds amateurish. A professional would say "girlie parts" or "nasty bits".

You're all taking him too seriously. He's talking about himself. He picked up some funky stuff while "doing" door hangers.

Pushing a particular carrier or plan without considering underwriting in advance can leave your client in a bad position. An abnormal pap (without a negative follow up) will get a second look from any carrier. Most will put an exclusionary rider on the policy even if additional testing indicated no problem.
Pap's can produce false positives due to numerous reasons. Many times the GYN will order a follow up pap in 6 months. I have had policies issued with the rider and negotiated with the carrier to review the rider for possible removal mid contract year if the follow up pap is negative.
You need to make sure your client understands the rider does not automatically drop off but is subject to review. Some carriers will only drop the rider if the policyholder makes a special request.
If her current plan really is worse then give her a copy of the rider to read and let her decide. This is a fairly broad rider, and (depending on what prompted it), you might get a tighter rider from another carrier. The more reticent you are about presenting the rider the less professional you appear.
There is nothing dirty or pornographic about doing your job. Don't be apologetic.

Just picked up on this.
You need to find out why the carrier did this, with the help of your client. Otherwise you have only done half your job.
