How to find companies for insurance markets?

I’m in Florida, and hurricanes in the last years have caused the insurance industry here to constantly change. Companies are constantly entering and leaving the insurance market. I’m having trouble finding commercial property markets for admitted carriers. Obviously insurance agents are the sales force for insurance companies. Is there a way to find insurance companies that are looking to appoint agents for different types of insurance? How as an agent can I find insurance companies when I have hard to place markets? Are there search engines to find companies that are looking to grow, or enter new markets? Any help or ideas would be great.

Insurers have to file with each state in which they conduct business. Go to the FL DOI and check it out. Company Search
