Last AEP and OEP I enrolled 79 people in MAPD plans, 68 of them are still on the books. About 21 were people who were just aging in and around 25 were people who had never heard of Medicare advantage, the've had straight medicare and supp all the time, the rest am not sure about.
I have been eagerly awaiting the second half of my commissions. UHC sent out emails last week that they will be paying true first year comm for JAN 1 and FEB 1 effectives, I was so happy and excited. My happiness and excitment were dashed this morning when I opened the comm statement. They paid me on only 3 cases totaling $600 with $416 pending charge back = $184 net.
I immediately called PHD (Producer hell desk ) to find out what is going on. The young lady apologized and told me that is what they received from CMS and it was final and that unfortunately, there is no appeal. I sincerely know that they owe me between $10,000- $12,000.

Am I the only one this is happening to ?
I would be pissed severely over that. That's pathetic. I'm glad I've stayed away from MA plans. The area I live and work in isn't worth a flip with the plans available. Apparently the promise of first-year commissions isn't worth a flip either.

If they do this to many agents, including me, we need to file a class action law suit.
I agree. Even with the charge backs he was due about $7,400. 46(first-years) x $200= $9,200. Nine charge backs of $200 each is $1,800. That leaves $7,400 he's owed if my math is correct. He gets $184
And I was worried over the penny-size commissions on PDP plans I was owed.

Well you can't lose something you never had! If i'm going to watch one pocket pay another...even though I got bypassed....i will have some satisfaction.
Re: If You Sell MA Plans, You Are Screwed.Go to Top
Just looked at mine too....wayyyyyyy off.....not just a screw job but way off to the point that something is screwed up big time......I'm going through all the polices now....was expecting 12,000 + got 5200. - 2200 in charge backs for a total of 3000. ......plus they had 1400 in there from what they owed me from regular enrollments 2 weeks
Ago.....(which i dont understand why they would mix the two together),,,,,,wayyyy out of line from my stats....

If they want to cut agents (especially independents) out of MA this is the way to do it.
Are broker arrangements still available with the captive companies in which you are paid for referrals? The last ones I heard of almost sounded too good to be true. If so, I might just start referring clients who can't qualify or pay for a Supp. to them and not even bother to recertify this year.

I dropped out of the senior market 2 years ago and this year contracted with Humana for the referral program.
HUH....I have not seen any money from them.
Re: If You Sell MA Plans, You Are Screwed.Go to Top
I'm hearing if they had a PDP,,,and still new to MA...no pay....too bad that’s not what they said in the contracts...all of them, the old and the new ones in Dec.
Looks like lawyer time....against every UHC person I ever talked to....time to file complaints against all the same individuals and the company with the state Insurance commissions office...at least there will be something on their files....I'm not going down on this ship alone....when my regional rep said I’d get paid even if they had a PDP and it was on the latest contracts and CMS also said it, then he will have a formal complaint on his recode for his career....management got paid, the company get paid, so I think its only fair they share in our victimization as they were involved all along the way.....
Re: If You Sell MA Plans, You Are Screwed.Go to Top
But yet they want agents to use a Scope Of Appointment form and have a 48 hour cooling off period before pursuing that massive $25 commission for a PDP plan.
This is an appropriate title for this thread...If You Sell MA Plans, You Are Screwed.....BIG TIME!
