If your browser hangs when trying this site there is the possibility that your IP address is either on a black-list or on a route table that the forum server does not like and won't respond to. You need to get a new IP.

First go to www.whatismyip.com and write down your IP address (for reference only.)

For most folks with DSL and cable, shut down the computer and then then turn off the modem (unplug it if it has no switch) for at least 2 minutes. (You can leave router on if you have one.) Then turn on modem and wait for lights to stop blinking. Then power up your computer. Go to above web site and see if you have a new IP. Then try the forum and see if it connects.

If not... and you have a router, do the above but turn off the router, and leave everything off for 30 minutes and then bring up the modem, the router, and then the computer (in that order).

I had a problem today where the forum just would not connect. Don't know why, but I did some research and my best guess is that the ISP is blocking some of ATT's IP addresses. This sometimes happens when a few computers in a range of IPs are pumping out spam. The ISP will block a whole range of them to 'turn off' the flood, as it were.

Thank you for that post! Yesterday All of a sudden I was having problems logging into this forum, yet other web sites worked just fine.

The next day, I logged on and read a post, and when I tried to respond, it timed out. after several attempts with no luck, I went to the library and got in just fine.

Called my techie for my computer, and even he was stumped. Thought it was AT&T......but yours was the quicker solution!!

Sam has sent out an email addressing this issue:

Over the last few days, we have received many reports of users not being able to access the forum. Our host has said that they have some new program that is banning ip addresses based on some login information that they couldn't figure out. We are hoping to completely move away from this host to a new host in the next week, provided that our backup is finished.

Until then, if anyone cannot access the forum, please go to www.whatismyip.com and email me the ip # that is displayed. Please include the .'s

Each one needs to be manually approved by them, so it should take an hour or two after I receive it, before access will be restored.
