IL: Getting Ready for 2016

Do you know what commission they offer for new business? As far as I know BCBSIL is 6%, Humana 0%, Aetna and Coventry I think are pmpm, Land of Lincoln 5.5%. UHC and Harken are supposed to be the same but I don't know what they pay.

The only commission rates I knew about for 2015 were Blue Cross and Land of Lincoln, because those were the only two that were competitively priced in Northeast Illinois.

If others are competitive in some way for 2016, I'll check out their compensation schedule.

The worst thing that can happen is that a 0% commission company introduces a wide-network, low-priced PPO. If that comes about, I'm done with Individual Health, and will start doing Group Health.

UHC E-Store has no info about 2016 commission rates. Harken Health said they will pay the same comm rates as UHC but nobody seems to know their rates if any.

I think the first time we'll see the premiums for 2016 is when HealthCare.gov publishes them. HHS said today that they're having some serious issues with getting Healthcare.gov to work correctly. A lot of "filtered" sub-searches have been added, which are causing major technical challenges.

In IL - UHC is 6% first year, 4% on 2nd, 2% on 3rd and plus.
Harken is tiered by number of policies - FYC starting at 4% for 0-12
5% for 13-24
6% for 25 plus

renewals are 2% and 1% for 2nd and 3rd plus years - regardless of number of policies.

note - these are for on-exchange policies

Get Covered Illinois, amid a sharp reduction in federal funding, has only enough money this year to pay for about 150 counselors who help consumers buy health insurance through the federal Affordable Care Act.

That's down from about 400 enrollment specialists the organization funded last year, according to the Illinois Department of Insurance.

Today the Illinois Department of Insurance published its annual "Rate and Plan Analysis". This 61 page document for 2016, is full of state information on Premiums, Silver Plan changes, Company/County participation information, and more.

One tidbit I found interesting is that there are now 0 (zero) Platinum plans on Healthcare.gov in Illinois. (BCBSIL, and maybe other companies(?), have a Platinum plan available for off-exchange purchase, however.)
