Are UW and rate classes not important?

They are, but its something you have to take on a case by case basis.
LFG has always had good underwriting in my experiences. A bit slower than others, but not to the point of upsetting the case. They are very competitive with the 45+ crowd; which is the perfect age range for IUL.

Ive heard good things about Penn, but no real personal experience with them.

While uw is important, with IUL expenses, historical rate caps, mins,etc are to be considered first and foremost.. imo
 
Have you been reading Patrick Kelly's - Tax Free Retirement?

Nope, been selling the Penn Mutual IUL the last couple months but didn't know much about the competition. Glad to here the positive feedback on Penns product.
