Medical Mutual Leaving The Indiana Health Insurance Marketplace

Effective January 1. Small Business will be around through 6-30-14. (2-50)

MM always focused on Ohio and never was a big player in the great state of Indiana.

All brokers received very comprehensive emails that provide much broader specifics. I have simply chosen not to copy and paste details.

Anybody (if they choose) may post that email on this thread (or a new one).

This is just another blow for the Indiana market.

I guess I better take it out of the page that can compare the best health insurance in Indiana. I liked MM but as mentioned, they were never a big player in the state. A lot of wasted money.

It a blow for me as I had a nice small group block with them.

They told me they are only going to be operating in Ohio.

In Indiana they had about 12,000 members on small group and 4,000 on Individual. They really just started going after business about 2 years ago.

The overall block in Indiana was operating at about 86% loss ratio, which really is not bad.
