I'm soon to start work with Colonial but would like to carry another product line or two as well. I'm especially interested in individual disability products for the self-employed. I also have an interest in individual health either short term or long term. Any guidance you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Check out dibroker.com. They can walk you through a case and will run several proposals on a client. They will also give you a 10% production bonus that is not carrier dependent.
