Got a tough one here in Georgia. 22 year male old healthy other than 2 suicide attempts 5 and 6 years years ago. Went through boot camp and now has NO treatment or medications of any kind.
I have already gone through Assurant, BX, United, Humana. Anybody got a carrier that might accept him for major medical? If it makes sense I might just pass him on as a referral.
Thanks,

When you say boot camp, do you mean like prepping for joining the military or a standalone thing? Tricare will take him if he goes active duty.
Georgia doesn't have a risk pool as far as I know.
If he went back to school as a full-time student, he could go on a parent's policy.
Aside from that, he'd probably be looking at a GI thing. I have one, it sorta...well, it's better than nothing. If he's truly desperate for coverage, I could help with that one, but...

Stand alone thing, so Tri care is not an option.
It looks like guaranteed issue is the only way to go.

I have absolutely no idea how to attach a file to a post (I thought I did, but oh well), but the GI plan I have is called HealthCard Now. You know, I've never actually read the whole brochure (I got to the part about saving on gym memberships once and quit), but it's really just a crappy discount card with some random benefits thrown in from what I can tell.
It includes a discount on floral delivery, car rentals, some magazines, office supplies, and background checks, among other things. I am not making this up.
Email me at nick at georgiainsuranceoptions.com if you'd like a copy of the brochure. It's good for a laugh, at least.
Edited to add: I just want to make sure I'm being perfectly clear with my position on this thing: it sucks. It sucks hard, it sucks long, and it will suck the money out of the kid's account. If someone looks at me and demands it and then follows up with "either you'll sell it to me or another agent will," then I'll consider pulling out an application -- but not before telling them that this thing is godawful and the only reason I'm letting them put me as their AOR is morbid curiosity.

This kid is going into the group job market - period. If he demands some type of discount or limited plan I'd head over to the parent's house with the son present - slap a tape recorder on the table and say:
"He can buy this but if he has any kind of major event you'll likely go bankrupt - lose your house and savings. If you agree to that please speak clearly in the microphone."
Then see if he wants it.
