Any of you other road warriors found a good value on a radar detector somewhere in the price range of $200?

do those things still work? I thought laser guns made those obsolete.

Not a radar detector, but the WAZE app on your smartphone is free and it operates on community input. It will tell you when a cop has been reported about 1/2 mile in advance as well as road hazards and traffic. I use it all the time.

There are some effective laser jammers available out there...not illegal in vast majority of states.
Laser Interceptor is usually rated the highest.
Valentinte1 is one of the best radar detectors.
Beltronics and Escort are a couple top brands.
Stay away from anything Cobra and Whistler.

Laser hammers are illegal in 10 states, iirc.
I agree on Valentine1. There are only 4 radar detectors that cannot be detected in VA. V1 is not one of them.

Yeah, put the V1 in the trunk while in VA
The states illegal for laser jammers, one should slow down and turn off the jammer to let the cop at least get a speed...Also keep the paperwork which says it's marketed as a Parking Aid.
And those laws are a tad bit unconstitutional from what I've heard, so maybe one day we'll see.
GA is a great state for speed...has to be a state cop to write a ticket for less than 10mph over. .and has to be 15mph over to get points on license (hits MVR)
So they don't generally write anything less than 18mph over.
If you do get a points ticket, it's easy to get points off at arraignment (with a clean record), just bring cash for the original fine. You can even get a SuoerSpeeded knocked down since the local jurisdiction doesn't get that money.
Been a long time since the vette, I haven't had any troubles for awhile.
But to the op, just a radar detector will only help out in the country. ..won't help you against laser, used on busier hyws

I haven't seen many tickets written on 9 miles over or less. That's ridiculous. I keep the cruise 9 over always.

That's what I do in alabama,about 9 over, I hear they give a real ticket for just a few over...but it feels faster because the roads are crapper ; )
