Before choosing a web designer a good idea is to choose an online marketing specialist and get a recommendation from them. Many web designers build sites that are very difficult to optimize for good results. Too many web site owners end up having to get their sites re-designed later because they didn't do their homework at the start

Check out these 2 books for some excellent "no cost or low cost" ways of getting people to your site.

1. Search Engine Optimization: Your Visual Bblueprint For Effective Internet Marketing by Kristopher B. Jones

2. Never Cold Call Again Online Playbook: The Definitive Guide to Internet Marketing Success by Frank J. Rumbauskas Jr. (which sells for 19.95 + tax in the book stores but is being sold on Amazon for $3.45, an 83% discount off the cover price).

Once they get to your site, you will want to be able to grab their attention and be able to capture their info, make sales etc. so in that case you will probably want to pick up a book on this subject titled:

Web Copy That Sells: The Revolutionary Formula for Creating Killer Copy That Grabs Their Attention and Compels Them To Buy by Maria Veloso

I've read the Veloso book a couple of times, but I don't have the other two.

I just ordered them. Thanks for the information.

Take a look at our free ebook on driving traffic to your website. The book breaks down the steps of getting traffic to your site into a series of steps and checklists. The ebook also links to videos that explain each of the key steps. It's not as exhaustive as the books Tampa Bay Rep posted, but it's free and specific to insurance.

Download the ebook here.

Do you like the look and feel of his templates? I find them amateur looking, crowded and almost causing visual pollution; but to each his own.

I love the one he did for me. Paid for itself many times over and I get a lot of good feedback from it. If it works, I don't care what it looks like...I am also consistently in the top 3 local searches on google. He gives you more than just a website....like you said, to each his own.
