Definitely both. Having keywords in your domain name helps in the beginning, but not necessary. Geico.com does not have any keywords in it, but they have a lot of authority from advertising so much.

Ignore they keyword use in the domain? They may not give EMDs the same weight they used to, but EMD doesn't seem to hurt.
