SEO for Insurance Websites

SEO has indeed evolved since the beginning of this thread.

It is now about relevancy. Find backlinks that are related to your content from reputable websites.
Create content that people want to share and like.
Create videos, post to youtube and rank. Much easier than ranking a website....

SEO is such a nebulous world to me....

and I have heard so many horror stories of paying a 3rd party lots of money to give you page 1 rankings...that usually fail or do it by 'tricking' the algorithms for a short while.

I don't really have the time nor inclination to do proper SEO myself. Should I just market in other ways? Or are there SEO 3rd party experts that can do the job so that my ROI makes it worth it?

Also....has anyone heard of Townsquare Interactive? They are in the digital marketing game and swear that they will be a profitable investment for me.

I am only licensed in Connecticut and am not yet narrowly focused. My efforts are toward businesses but haven't ruled out families, either.

Life, annuities, retirement, etc.

Do you really have to spend the time doing your own SEO, and other things that get your name and website ranked highly? Or are there truly companies that would be a smart investment....for a newbie.

Great stuff Sam. The writing part I can handle...and actually enjoy. The technical stuff is still quite confusing...but hopefully, I'll learn.

Even for me, and I'm fairly technical, I still outsource whatever I can because if I'm learning webdesign or SEO I'm not selling. There are reasonable sources out there, I have found that I can throw a stick and hit a graphic designer who will also post for me or do some technical stuff reasonably. Good luck you to you!

Marketing dollars are extremely important. Not everyone has a well known brand or agency. But you can get there with targeted ad campaigns and a good web developer. It's easy to start a web site with the canned products, but you need much more to keep your visitors engaged. As a person who has built these platforms for insurance carriers, trust me, there are tons of things agents can do, which the direct to customer carriers are doing and the agents aren't.

Nowadays I question the value of SEO.

I can't imagine how some agencies spend ~$10k/mo. on SEO when you can advertise with Adwords for the keywords you want to rank high for.

Not to mention, SEO can't rank your site higher than Adwords can.

But this post is not to say that SEO is ineffective or pointless. Actually, SEO is a great compliment to SEM. But if I only had $2k and I wanted to generate new business now, I'm allocating it towards SEM.

Finally, it will be interesting to see how Google continues to update its algorithm to prefer websites focused on delivering high-quality content. I predict we'll see SEO experts evolving into content marketers...

It's an interesting topic because I know people who do SEO marketing, Because of the new algorithms the average organic SEO is 4 minutes, mean once who have your website all optimized and it goes live it will stay on the first page for 4 minutes. Its almost easier just to pay for the AD, because what SEO Specialists charge is much more costly.
