Major Insurance keywords are extremely expensive on Google and other search engines, plus the site should have long history, links reach content etc. Its a full time job, and those who know how to do it will not do it cheap for you either. So if you calculate your cost of doing it yourself, you will see that its ten time more expensive than buying leads. So if you close 10% of leads you buy, you will end-up paying same or more for leads, plus loss of time and focus on doing what you do best, selling.

That sounds crazy. I just signed on with hometown quotes again. If its your first time they give you $2.00 leads for two weeks. then it goes up to $7.50 . Not the greatest leads, but its a start.

It does take some effort, but most of you could make better use of your websites to generate you own leads. Sure google PPC terms are expensive, but if you concentrate on targetted local search it gets easier and cheaper. Besides there are other sources of traffic.

I'm new here, so I cannot post a link (hi everybody!), but you can look for an article on some quick tips.

The website is proagentweb dot com - and the article is about internet insurance sales training.

Doesn't HTQ have a pretty good refund policy though? I had heard that through the grapevine, and would like to hear opinions.

I would do more PPC, expect I'm a little concerned that my competition can just click on my ad, and drive my costs through the roof!

Same here- I am not as worried about other insurance agents/agencies as much as lead companies using click fraud to drive out competitors.

PPC is their main if not only way to generete leads. I'm sure they have people tracking their campaigns and competitors 24/7. Whenever I notice an unusuall amount of clicks in a short period of time for a specific keyword, I assume it is click fraud. I then run a search on that keyword to see who else shows up. Most of the time it is all lead companies. Granted the consumer would think they are the company actually offering insurance based on the deception they use, e.g. Get Blue Cross Blue Shield $1/day.

Every industry the leads companies spread to, they drive up the cost of the PPC to a point where most legitimate companies actually offering the service the consumer searched for do not want to go. I bet if they had to clearly disclose the fact that by filling out one of their forms, the consumers info will be sold as many times as possible, they would be out of business.
