Don't know of an app that runs quotes on either. That being said, both have internet access and they can both access your online tools. Both have 3G, so I guess the difference is only price and network preference.

Good tips!

Can I also suggest getting a Windows Mobile enabled phone?

There aren't any quoting apps for the iPhone that I know of, just a few captive-specific (and very watered down) FNAs. However, iPipeline, Compulife, and Norvax all pull up fine on my iPhone. They're a little unwieldy, but they get the job done.

Thanks for the suggestions so far...

Someone shared that the "touch screen" on the Iphone was very sensitive and therefore somewhat difficult to use and that the keyboard's letters were very close together making texting a bit of a challenge; any other input pertaining to this or other issues?

I have no problem with the Iphone keypad and the touch screen just takes some getting used too. I accidently x things off or open new screens that I didn't mean too.
The applications for the Iphone are great and new stuff coming all the time.

I wanted an Iphone!

When I dumped my blackberry for an iphone I was NEVER told you can't attach a PDF or doc to an email!!!

How friggin rediculous!

Even this spring I was told by the apple rep at florida mall that the new update would include email attachment capability.....

Still waiting!!!

Iphone is not a business phone. However if you want people to see your site and where to go it works awesome!

I got the iPhone and personally couldn't live without it for my business! The email and web access is great! I do wish they had an app for quoting, but perhaps that will come...someday.

I got the Iphone a short while back and am not only more than impressed, I don't see how I could leave the house without it.

I will say this - Apple does expose themselves a bit with the Iphone - part of the reason I'll never own a Mac. Case in point; the Iphone just got the ability to copy and paste. Wow...that technology has only been around for 10 years. Although it has a web browser it doesn't support Flash which means you can't watch video....except Youtube which exposes the huge Apple LIE that making it Flash compatible would cause it to be too slow.

You also better be in love with ATT and the insane and unjustified rates they charge for data, text and phone service. Apple really needs to get out of bed with ATT and open up the market.

I've never owned a Blackberry so I can't compare.

Get your Iphone unlocked and use it on Tmobile. They are MUCH cheaper than At&T

True but that also voids the warranty.

If you need to use the warranty (only available within the first year) then you just need to restore your phone using Itunes and all traces of the unlock is gone. The Warranty is restored if the time has not passed. I enjoy my Iphone greatly, and I like it even more that I pay the same price for 2 lines as my friends on At&T pays for 1 line.

If it were me, and this is just because I like things bigger, not smaller, I would go with a netbook. Sure, you can't carry it in your pocket unless you are Captain Kangaroo, but it sure is easier to navigate the web than using a 4 inch screen.

Good point! So what you are saying is forget the expense of a new phone; monthly rate (expensive) and some online limitations and just get a netbook? will consider, thanks!

I'm saying that is what I would do. Of course I only use my phone for things like, you know, calling people.

OK, call me old fashioned.

Re: Iphone Vs Blackberry             Go to Top

I replaced my trusty Blackberry with an iPhone about a year and a half ago. They have very different strengths and weaknesses.

You can't beat the blackberry for email - the keyboard's small, but with practice typing is really pretty easy. If you're going to be sending a lot of emails from your phone, get a blackberry.

You can't beat the iphone for web browsing. The big multi-touch screen is fantastic for accessing web pages. Reading email is fine as well, but if you have to write a long reply, prepare to get frustrated.

The iphone's app store is amazing as well - there really is an app for everything. I was at a loud concert a few weeks ago. I wondered how loud it was, so I pulled out my iphone, quickly downloaded a free sound meter app, and my phone instantly became a sound meter (the concert was, in fact, very loud).

I was a HUGE Palm OS guy for years. Did everything from Palm.

Then I went Windows Mobile8-months ago. It was garbage. Microsoft office does NOT play that well with Windows Mobile. The Excell spreadsheets are MUCH better on Palm OS.

I bought an iphone 2-months ago. I can't believe how impressed I am with it. It's great at most everything.

The Palm OS still runs Excel better than any other does and I use Excell for ALL my rate calculations. So I still have to carry my little Palm Centro around with me. But the i-phone is GREAT!

Sending attachments through email is just asking for the email to be eaten or popped in a spam filter. If you send more than one attachment to someone in AOL (or just a large one) it is often deleted or mungled such that it can't be opened.

Agents who understand how to use technology will store documents (brochures, quotes, articles, etc.) on their web server or on some other 3rd party file storage media and simply send the client the URL link.

I use MobileMe which makes it easy. You upload the document and then click the "share" option and it gives you a link to use when you want to share the document.

When I do quotes (and some of them are 1 MB or more) I don't send them through the mail, I just send the client a link like this:

http://files.me.com/acanton77/benb6n

I've found that a lot more of my mail gets through than when I send the documents.

YMMV.
