If you pray to jesus, god, or anything else, that prayer may be answered. If you pray to a carton of milk, that prayer may be answered.
So, is god a carton of milk?
Rick
Next time you pray to the carton of milk pray for that missing child on it. A victim of a society that doesn't value life anymore. Where fathers are no where to be found because they bought into the lie that this life is just a random act of the cosmos so why should they care. Rick, ponder this, Why do we exist? Is it just to struggle to survive and then rot. I agree with you standing on the outside looking in, Christianity looks quite strange. I chose to ignore any thought of God for years until I had to at least do my own research and found there is a strong case for the existence of a creator as opposed to this existence coming about by some infinitesimal chance occurence of nature and the universe. I tried my own will and decided God's will is more fullfilling. I don't understand it completely but will cling to the cross and continue to follow the calendar that is set by that fateful point in human history. Tomorrow is March 11, 2008 AD. For some reason it trumps all the other calendars. Goodnight
A failure to understand something doesn't mean you make up an explanation where no evidence exists.
Didn't we used to drill hole's in people's heads to let the evil spirits out?
Nothing explains man's existence. Did we evolve from apes? Unlikely....zero proof.
It there a "being" in the sky that sees and knows everything? Also unlikely. Is there an option "C" that our minds simply cannot comprehend? Probably.
Is heaven a place of pure happiness? Doubtful - the Bible talks about angles being cast out. Can God simply "will" anything? Don't know - it took "him" 7 days to create the Earth then he had to rest. He was tired?

What type of angles did he cast out? (90 degree, 45 degree?) Any of your typos are fair game since you pointed out my "alot" typo. I don't know "it" there is a being in the sky (maybe cousin IT.) I think he is supposed to have created the heavens and the earth in 6 days and then rested on the 7th day. I'm reading through the Old Testament right now and it's amazing some of the human traditions that are still being followed that are listed as rules for the Isrealites. Like most people don't eat blood. I haven't found anything in there about drilling holes in peoples heads, but John if you used to do that I'll take your word for it. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to bleed myself with some leeches so I'll feel better for my appointments tomorrow. But first I think I'll offer up a ram to the Levites to pay for that little hidden clause on that policy I wrote last week that kept me from full disclosure.
I think a more powerful God could have created the Earth in 3 or 4 days instead of 6. Maybe there's a God out there who could create it in a few hours. Don't know - creating "everything" seems like a lot of work.
Interesting - if he created man at the same time he created Earth then where was man during the time of the dinosaurs?
God killed everyone on the Earth in the Noah's Ark story (except Noah & family.) How did the Earth get repopulated?
And why did God flood the Earth and kill every person? EVERYONE was evil? Sounds to me like he's a pretty mean entity. Crap - I hope he doesn't just up and kill everyone again. After all....God is love.
Yeh, theoretically Jesus is the best universal insurance, but still...do you really believe that this fact will help you paying health care bills, especially if don't have health insurance and don't protect your family with health insurance?

The same way that Kentuckians populated. Brother? Cousin?
15 And God spake unto Noah, saying, 16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.
18 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him.
1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

It's a damn good thing that the replenishing included India. God must have foreseen the need for tech support!
Stamp out biblical literacy!
I know the "real" answer is "god has his reasons," but just why in hell couldn't god just smite everyone except for 2 of each animal. Or kill everything and start again.
Also, since god is all knowing, didn't he know that mankind would screw up. Did this come as a surprise? And if it did, maybe he isn't so all knowing.
My head is about to explode from all this reality. I'll have to look at the bible - I think it's found in the fiction dept. of Barnes and Noble.
