I don't get it. According to the story, God is the Creator - not the maintainer. The story also says man was given Free Will.
The idea that there is a greater force at work, other than nature, than what we have any control over, seems contradictatory to our having free will.
We are all personally responsible for our behavior. Religion is the root cause of man's inhumanity to man. teaching that we are born to sin. Of course we will sin if you say it enough.
Ethical, it would be something that people on the moral high ground can do but a heathen or blasphemer can't do. www.RichardDawkins.net - The Official Richard Dawkins Website

Rabbi,
Quote me one verse in the bible that says the words "free will"....
I really don't want to keep this thread going, HOWEVER, did anyone see that a couple in, I believe michigan, let their child die because they thought prayer would heal her? I don't have all of my facts str8 so stay with me, they did not believe in medicine, only prayer. She was between 8 &12, had early onset diabetes, showed clear signs, yet the parents did nothing but pray. I was raised christian, protestant to be precise, but spent four years in catholic school. At some point if you believe we are made in the likeness of god, you have to realize that technology is there. That is in no way to say that the computer can replace belief/faith, there is a difference. I do believe the original post was nothing more than a joke, and not meant to harm anyone, just meant for a laugh. You will never change someones religion/political beliefs/fav sports team/beliefs/faith. Let it go and let's help some new people in the business, including myself help other people.

WHAT THE MIND CAN CONCEIVE AND BELIEVE, IT CAN ACHIEVE
There is too much information in Science to have a belief system. The problem is religion wants to be able to impose their views and have you accept it without any rebuttal, those days are gone. We cannot pay for preachers with tax dollars or finance nativity scenes with tax dollars.
If you want to abort your child that is up to you.
I agree let the thread drop and you believe what you want and I'll believe what I want, but be prepared to explain why you want to use our(non believers) money to finance anything to do with religion.
Never said I was a Christian. However I will put my actions up against anyone including all those Christians in prision. Did you know that Atheists make up the smallest group of those in prision - Catholics are the largest group with other Christian sects following?
Deeds speak a lot (or alot as SAI would write) louder than words.
Rick
Where do you come up with this stuff??? Let's see here... Did you know that there are more orange tree's in the orange grove than there are apple tree's??
If Atheism was more popular than Christianity, then you would have more Atheists in prison than Christians...

I saw a statistic today that out of all the Insurance Companies, AFLAC has the most agents in prison...
Rabbi,
Quote me one verse in the bible that says the words "free will"....
2 Corinthians 8:3 (New Living Translation)
Of course, this isn't what you really wanted.
Also, what does it matter if someone quotes a scripture in the bible if you don't believe in the God of the bible? (and I have no idea if you believe in Him or not).
In Luke 22:42, Jesus says to the Father, "....Not My will, but Yours be done". Thus implying that we have a free will. And that's only if a person believes we were made in "Our image and Our likeness".
If Atheism was more popular than Christianity, then you would have more Atheists in prison than Christians...
Only sinners go to prison. All Christians are sinners at heart. Atheists don't go around fulfilling their destiny to sin. You don't really believe that Born Again stuff? What a bunch of hypocrates.

Rabbi,
Not just Christians are sinners at heart, we all are. Not sure I understand the, "Atheists don't go around fulfilling their destiny to sin" sentence. And yes, I do believe that born again stuff. Christ is very real to me. He doesn't have to be to you. And just because I believe in Him, it doesn't make me perfect. I am far from it. In reality, I'm nothing more than an apprentice of the Master. And my desire is to be changed by Him. I fall short every day. For those that don't believe, it's foolishness to them. And that's ok. It's not my job to convince them otherwise.
Am I a hypocrite at times? Absolutely. Can my God handle that? He sure can. Does He want me to change from those ways? He sure does. Does He still love me in my sin? You better believe it. There's something amazing that happens when you experience grace. I can't explain it. It's not a head knowledge. It's just something that you have to experience to understand.
I'm not here trying to "convert" anyone. I'm just pointing out MY reality which happens to be different from yours. I'm not making fun or light of your reality just because it's not my reality. I love to have open and honest discussions about faith (not religion). I was once the person who mocked the "hypocrites" you speak of. I still get angry when I see it happening. I get VERY angry when I see idiots with signs that condemn others that aren't like them. They definitely don't know the Christ that I know. Because He wouldn't condemn someone for their lifestyle. The people He got the most upset with were those very people. The self righteous (they were called Pharisees). He offers grace, mercy and direction and purpose for a persons life.
Anyway, the "church" has done a horrible job of portraying Christianity. And it's unfortunate that so many view it based on the ones who do the most idiotic things. It's not my job to place my convictions on another person. But unfortunately, too many so called Christians feel that's exactly their purpose. I've gone on long enough. It's funny that you use the name Rabbi. That's what Jesus was called in scripture.

Awesome, One Verse, in a single translation.... Out of the thousands of translation of the bible, there is like 4 that use free will in that passage...
Read Romans 8...
Dont be defensive, Its ok to have this discussion...
