Mc Dowell LOL one more Red-Herring, this book you refer to is full of misleading text, and untrustworthy sources for information.
Next, it is not hard to prove that a person did in fact live in a moment in history/time.
A person with such impact on human society like jesus or moses should have plenty of cross refences to validate they did in fact live in those times. But we do not fine any of this cross refence at all in the case of jesus or moses. There are no first hand accounts of jesus or moses at all, nor are there any period paintings/statues/carvings of jesus or moses.
To go even further we have not one period writing from jesus or moses, and none of their contemporary/period, authors/writers make any mention of jesus or moses.
We do find the references, it just seems that because of religious conotations we have a smidgeon (always wanted to use that word in a sentence) of folks that simply choose to ignore the findings.
I'll leave it go at that.... my hurts from all the banging.

Again the only references to moses & jesus are only found in religious writings. We can not find any mention of moses during the time frame he lived, other than the bible.
No evedence has been found at all to prove he did live, yet in the same time frame we find a plethora of information about the people, the ruler, and the society. And no mention of the 12 plague's, or any jewish leader named moses.
Same with jesus, a ton of information about how the peolpe lived, the ruler, the whole socitey, yet no mention of jesus..
Maybe it is just the way my mind works but I find this to be strange, we have two people that had this huge inpact on the human story, yet we can not find any hard/real facts that they did in fact exisit.
This why I say you need to look out side the religious history if you want to understand the real history of man.
I know what you are implying, everyone throws around the word "Christian" nowadays so now it connotes a plethora of meanings. And it's getting to be the only "lifestyle" you can bash and not get hassled or thrown in jail. However, consider this.
You CANNOT live a Christian life. You live a "moral" life. Morality by itself will get you nowhere one minute after you are dead. Christians believe that Christ is God. You do not believe in God. To be a Christian means to be a follower of Christ. To be a follower of Christ means to obey His commands. His commands are summed up in the WHOLE of the revealed Word of God (OT/NT), not a few lovely verses taken out of context. Therefore, you should have to read, study, and live by the Bible increasingly every day to be a Christian. And Christ's Spirit Himself will have to open your understanding to enable you to do so. Without Christ, you can do NOTHING (of value to God).
Now then, I was speaking "vertically"; horizontally anyone can certainly do many "moral" good deeds, and we should. But that should follow from the vertical else in the end it is all for naught. Read Ecclesiastes. It is short. And very practical, profound, and proverbial. And it has a conclusion. And it was inspired by God specifically for your consumption.
That being said, humans are imperfect and words and deeds (works) will fall short, therefore they cannot be "proof" of a real Christian (works can be faked, it is the Spirit behind the works that produces eternal quality). The proof of a real Christian is his FAITH (in Christ, the Son of God, who, "before Abraham was, I AM"). And that Faith will be tried and the works judged by Christ Himself in perfect Godly righteousness.
You are right that words, deeds, and works should follow after faith (did you say that?) and "indicate" a reborn eternal Christian Spirit, but in our fallen flesh we are hard pressed to discern the false from the genuine. But that is not where we place our faith, although we (are to) love and forgive one another in the faith.
In a nutshell, a Christian derives his knowledge of God in the unchangeable Word of God. An atheist believes in Science; how many times do the Science books change? When you die, what revision will be current? How can you let finite changing human intelligence in Science regarding the Creation (okay, the physical universe) help you determine if there is a God or not (God is a Spirit). That flat amazes me every time.
Anyway, I mean no disrespect, I am just trying to contribute a little food for thought. Hey, I was born an atheist just like everyone else! Been there, done that!
My two mites.
You are so right on!! Praise the Lord!! You took the Word of God which was being made fun of and in a gentle way educated people about our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hod, are you a believer in eastern religions----or none at all? BTW, I am a Druid.
I do not believe in any god/superior/person/divine being. The whole idea that a god made the earth and the stars ect, is beyond the scope of reason.
The physical universe in which we live, is way to complex and has way to many unanswered questions for it all to have been created by a god or superior being.

I have heard people say this world is way to complex for it to not be created by a Superior Being.
But your the first to argue the quoted point. lol.
Again the only references to moses & jesus are only found in religious writings.
That is incorrect. Try the book"A Case for Christ" written by a former Chicago Tribune court reporter and atheist. His mission was to determine if there was enough evidence to proof there was Cgrist, using non Biblical history. It is an interesting read and answers many of the questions some ask about this subject and interviews a variety of historians.
If someone tells you something and you write it down, are they your words or the other person's words?
LOL lets see here, god has had a conversation with moses and muhammad, muhammad put what he learned from god in the qu'ran, moses wrote nothing!!! The bibles are full of words of men not god..

The solar system in which live is in a galaxy with over 100,000,000 more solar sytems, next our galaxy is in the universe, and the universe has a countless number of galaxies 100's of trillions of galaxies, and this was all created by one god/superior being LOL
