Just Starting - Bad Credit, New and Need Help, Please!

HI everyone,
I just found this forum and like what I see very much - a wealth of information here. I am wanting to start an online pre-licensing class for health/life next week. A little about me: After working for an agency for about 3 years, I gained some very useful knoweledge about the insurance industry and now, after taking off the last 2 years to be a mom and help my husband start his business, I have decided to go ahead and get licensed. My goal is find a mentor and become independent. My biggest concern and here is where I need all your valuable insight and expertise - I have really bad credit. The economy has hit me and my husband hard - we lost our house and cars. My husband became ill and we basically lived off of credit for awhile. How badly will this effect me and is there anyone out there that thinks I will be wasting my time by getting licensed.

I'd like to add, that I feel I would be very good at selling insurance as I am very much a people person - I enjoy talking to people and I enjoy helping them as much. I have a genuine care for helping people and it comes accross when speaking to them. I have always received wonderful feedback from any and all clients I dealt with when working in this field. I really liked working the big agency, my boss at the time wanted to send me to get licensed and I regret not doing that now. At the time, my priorities were focusing on the adoption of our little girl.

So, thanking everyone in advance - before I hit that register button for the online class- will my credit history hold me back? and as a side note - anyone out there in New Jersey, now or Florida (we may have an opportunity to relocate) looking to mentor someone willing to learn and work her butt off?

Unfortunately if you have repo's and a foreclosure yes, it can absolutely impact your ability to get appointments. You're already licensed and no one's going to be able to say which carriers will and won't appoint you. You'll have to submit your paperwork and see.

Many carriers will appoint you - but may limit your advance % until you prove yourself. Just about anything is possible.

It also might depend on who you can find to help mentor you If an agency/agent has a really good relationship with their carriers it might help tremendously
