I just got my P& C license. I would like to focus on commercial. If the GA that I work with does not know much about Commercial Insurance. Can I learn the business from the carriers? Obviously the way to go woud be to set up with someone who understands commercial but if I did'nt, could I get training from the carriers? If yes, then would that apply to other niches?

Check with your carriers to see if they have any classes or seminars. The problem with using carriers for training, is you get trained on their products. The best place to find nonbiased training is through your local insurance association.
